Multidisciplinary Management
Management of bone and soft tissue tumors is a not the job of a single specialty. The correct diagnosis and treatment of these rare cancers requires constant engagement of the orthopedic oncologist with medical, pediatric , and radiation oncologist as well as musculoskeletal pathologist and radiologist. All decisions are made in a “multidisciplinary tumor board” that consists of all these specialists. This ensures the correct management protocol is followed while following the correct sequence of treatment, which ultimately leads to better survival and functional outcomes.
